Arabic PDF remediation that screen readers read correctly
Most PDF tools were built for English. Arabic PDFs often come out with reversed letters, the wrong reading order or an English voice. We fix Arabic and bilingual PDF files so blind and low-vision people can read them, and so they meet PDF/UA and WCAG 2.2 AA.

Why Arabic PDFs fail with screen readers
These are the most common problems we find in Arabic government, banking and university documents.
Reversed or broken Arabic letters
The text has no correct Unicode mapping, so the screen reader reads letters backwards or as symbols.
Wrong reading order
Content is read left to right, or jumps between columns, headers and footers.
English voice for Arabic text
The document language is missing, so NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver read Arabic with an English voice.
No headings or structure
Titles only look big. Users cannot jump between sections.
Tables without headers
Dates and numbers are read without their column names, so they make no sense.
Images without Arabic alt text
Logos, charts and stamps are skipped or read as file names.
Mixed Arabic and English
Numbers, codes and English words inside Arabic text are read in the wrong order.
Scanned pages
A scanned PDF is only a picture. A screen reader finds no text at all.
Hear the difference
Try our simulation: watch how a sample Arabic government PDF is tagged, then hear how a screen reader reads it before and after.

Questions about Arabic PDF remediation
What is Arabic PDF remediation?
It is the work of fixing an Arabic PDF so that people who use screen readers or braille displays can read it. We add the correct tags, reading order, language, alt text and table headers, and we fix broken Arabic text.
Why does a screen reader read my Arabic PDF backwards or in the wrong order?
Usually the PDF has no tags, the reading order is left to right, or the Arabic letters have no correct Unicode mapping. Many design and export tools create these problems. Remediation fixes all three.
Why is my Arabic PDF read with an English voice?
The document language is not set to Arabic. The screen reader then uses its default English voice. We set the language for the whole document and for any English parts.
Can you fix scanned Arabic PDFs?
Yes. We convert scanned pages to real text with Arabic OCR, then a person checks the result before we tag it.
Do you work with bilingual Arabic and English documents?
Yes. Bilingual reports, forms and circulars are a big part of our work. We set the correct language and reading order for each part.
Which standards do you follow?
PDF/UA (ISO 14289) for PDF files and WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We test with PAC, Adobe Acrobat and real screen readers.
Can our team do this ourselves?
Yes. With our Arabic PDF Remediation Studio and training, your team can remediate Arabic PDFs in-house.
Do you also fix Word, Excel and PowerPoint files?
Yes. We remediate Word, Excel and PowerPoint files too, and we can create accessible templates so new documents start right.
